Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Captain licensed? Is it safe? -- The Captain is a US Coast Guard Licensed Captain who takes your safety and enjoyment of the river seriously. He has been sailing the Willamette River since 1998. He is a licensed United States Coast Guard Captain, a member of the National Association of Charterboat Operators, licensed as a charter operator with the Oregon State Marine Board, and is a member of the Columbia-Willamette chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society. He also maintains First Aid and CPR certifications through the American Red Cross.
How many people can fit on the boat? -- Three adult passengers is very comfortable. Five passengers plus the captain is the maximum capacity of the boat. The Captain may be able to accommodate exchanging passengers at the dock if you have a very large party and need additional seating for the experience. Additional fees may apply depending on the situation, so please inform the Captain ahead of time.
Should I tip the Captain? -- That's entirely up to you! A tip is never required but always appreciated. It is customary in the private tour boat industry to tip the captain 15-20% of the charter fee if they did a good job for you.
Can I bring my pet on the boat? -- Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on-board at this time.
What happens if it rains? -- All cruises are weather dependent. If your time slot is impacted by inclement weather, all efforts will be made to re-schedule.
