Long ago, Portland was in a state of turmoil, its many neighborhoods locked in a vicious war. After a bloody battle with the Ruby, Diamond, and Emerald districts, only the Pearl district remained. Explore the streets of the victorious Pearl neighborhood on this Quest.
Purchase your Quest here and be sent your code to enter at an online address provided on your E-Ticket. Register and schedule your Quest at that online address to set the ball in motion for you to "get your Sherlock Holmes on" by solving clues and puzzles while walking through interesting Portland locations.
And, if you choose the "mystery restaurant" option when registering your Quest, you will get a secret password at the end of your Quest to figure out where you will be having lunch or dinner. The price of your Quest does not include the cost of the meal.

Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center.
How It Works:
After you order the Urban Scavenger Quest, you will be sent an E-Ticket with your confirmation number and a website address to visit and enter that confirmation number to register your team and schedule your Quest. You can place multiple orders under different names to create a competition between several teams.
One person can do the Quest on their own, but Urban Scavenger Quests are designed for enjoyment by groups of 2 to 4 persons per team.
Participants will choose the actual date and start time of their Quest when they register it online, so the Quest is an excellent gift choice for someone.
During the sign-up process (details on your E-Ticket), you'll have the option to choose from a selection of mystery restaurants. You are not required to make a dining reservation, but it's a nice reward to enjoy at the end of your Quest! You will need to access the internet at the conclusion of your Quest to get the name and address of the mystery restaurant where your reservation has been made.
If you choose the "mystery reservation" option for a meal after your Quest, the reservation will be for 2 hours after your scheduled Quest start time (or approximately 15 to 30 minutes after the expected conclusion of your Quest).
The reservation does NOT include the cost of the meal, so make sure to bring money to cover the cost of the meal if you choose to make a mystery reservation.
In most cases, you will choose a type of food or atmosphere (to ensure you enjoy it) - and the mystery of which restaurant you have chosen for your reservation will be revealed at the conclusion of your Quest when you reconnect to the internet for that purpose. For example, you might have the option to choose between a steakhouse, pub food or Italian. You'll also be asked the number of persons in your dining party.

Q: How long will this take? -- A: Each Urban Scavenger Quest is designed to take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to complete at a leisurely pace. If you choose the mystery restaurant option when you register your Quest, the restaurant reservation will be for two hours following the scheduled start of your Quest. Plan the day accordingly to allow completion of your Quest within daylight hours.
Q: Is the price per-person or per-team? -- A: The price is a flat rate PER TEAM. It is recommended that teams be comprised of 2 to 4 persons.
Q: Can I purchase now and play later? -- A: Absolutely! You can purchase your Quest days, weeks or months before it actually takes place. It makes a great gift for someone - just make the purchase in their name and provide them with the E-Ticket when you receive it. When the team is ready to play, they simply follow the directions on the E-Ticket to register their Quest.
Q: How do I know where the Quest will start? -- A: Your Portland Quest will begin near the corner of West Burnside and 10th Street in Portland. Detailed instructions to the start location of your Quest will be provided once your Quest is registered and scheduled.
Q: Are there other costs involved? -- A: No, unless you choose the mystery restaurant option - since you will have to pay for the food.
Q: How many people can be on one team? -- A: Any number you wish. . .however, the Quest is typically best with 2 to 4 people on each team.
Q: When is the best time to take the Quest? -- A: Each Quest has been developed to be run during daylight hours. Your team should choose a start time that allows for adequate completion of the Quest during daylight hours...and, if you choose the mystery reservation feature, you will be going to enjoy a meal at a restaurant two hours after the start of your Quest.
Q: What if I get stuck on a Quest? -- A: The designers have tested these Quests carefully - but, sometimes life throws obstacles in the way. So, if you have difficulty with a clue or cannot find something, all you have to do is refer to the hints and answers at the back of your clue package. You'll never get stuck because the answers are all provided.
Q: Does this Quest require use of a "smart phone" handheld device? -- A: No, though you may use one if you wish, and you will need to reconnect to the Internet at the conclusion of your Quest - which can be done on a "smart phone" or anywhere else an internet connection is available to you (public library, internet cafe, etc.) if your home or office isn't convenient to the area where the Quest takes place. This Urban Scavenger Quest is not reliant upon a mobile phone network to receive and submit clues and therefore does not experience any delay caused by phone network issues. Upon registration of your Quest, you will be provided a PDF clue package to print and bring with you.
Q: Is there an age requirement? -- A: There is no specific age requirement and the Urban Scavenger Quest appeals to wide range of ages. Families have a great time doing Quests. However, before bringing a teething 2-year-old or that friend with a bad ankle, consider that the Quest is generally a walking tour that can range between 1.5 to 2 miles and take about 90 minutes. It's an activity designed for couples, and for families with children ages 9 and up.
Q: How strenuous is the game? -- A: This is difficult to gauge because each individual has varying degrees of stamina. However, the Quest will take place in and around the city, and requires walking 1.5 to 2 miles with stops to solve puzzles.
Q: What items should I bring? -- A: We suggest bringing water, snacks, money, a city map, calculator, and pencil & paper.
Q: How can I compete against another team? -- A: Competing against another team can occur on the same day or different days, since each team runs the Quest using its own unique confirmation code. Each team should time itself and the one who finishes in the shortest time wins.
Q: Can I stop the Quest and continue later? -- A: This Quest is designed to be completed in a single session.
Q: Will I learn anything on this tour? -- A: Almost certainly! You will be walking in downtown Portland, learning little known facts and visiting interesting areas.
